Hopes Spring

by Edward Kildow

/

lyrics

She holds
The pieces of a frame
Broken in a fall from the bookcase
She sees now she never wanted it at all
But had to put the thought someplace

She thinks
Today will be the day
She puts a little more color on a canvas
She goes to get the tin of little paints
She uses to practice

Hopes spring and they look just like a smile
Like a brand new day trying to make a start
She brings everything she needs
Living how she does is a kind of art

She knows
It’s time to go to sleep
But she can’t seem to close her eyes
She didn’t have them when she needed them the most
So she painted bluer skies

Hopes spring and they look just like a smile
Like a brand new day trying to make a start
She brings everything she needs
Living how she does is a kind of art
